Gary Wadden, President of m5 Group of Companies, has appointed Rod Budgell, as Executive Vice-President and Chief Strategist of m5 marketing communications. In this new role, Budgell will lead M5’s Client Service and strategic support efforts across offices in St. John’s, Halifax, Moncton and its newest location in New England.
In his most recent capacity as M5’s Senior VP, Strategy, Budgell worked closely with M5’s client services group, providing strategic leadership for M5 and its clients throughout the region and beyond. This has included some of Canada’s well known organizations: General Motors, University of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Tourism and Parks, Atlantic Lottery Corporation, the Multi Materials Stewardship Board and the City of Brampton. His most recent efforts have included providing strategic direction for a new global cruising destination on behalf of partners from Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, the Orkneys and Canada, leading a major brand planning project for Newfoundland and Labrador’s energy corporation, Nalcor, and traveling to Los Angeles to present research findings for Sabian Cymbals global distributors group. “Budgell has been an integral part of the m5 team for more than two decades, having founded our research company MarketQuest in 1987,” said Wadden. “His extensive contribution to our success and the success of our clients over the years has made his appointment a natural evolution, and pleasure to announce.”
The Executive Vice-President and Chief Strategist will be responsible for leading a multi-million dollar business with primary reach throughout Canada and the US.
As for Budgell, he says he’s looking forward to the opportunity. “Recognizing the ever-changing dynamics of the marketing communications world in Canada and elsewhere, we’re guiding our clients in ways never before anticipated,” said Budgell. “I will be very fortunate to work with a multi-disciplinary team that understands this, and has the skills to keep our clients on pace with this incredible speed of change.”
Focusing in on M5’s “Results” mantra, Budgell said he is committed to a highly collaborative environment at M5 to ensure that clients receive industry-leading impact from their marketing investments.
The appointment is effective immediately.
